All of our handmade skin care and bath products contain absolutely no genetically modified oils (GMO). Soap and skin care makers that use conventional soybean oil and/or corn oil are not only using inferior oils, but are also supporting an industry that genetically modifies products and may be putting small farmers out of business. We add no parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate (or similar), unnatural preservatives, or petroleum products to any of our products. All of our soap products are Plant Based, Natural, Handmade, and 85%-100% Organic.

Base Oil Ingredient Explanation

Why do we use the oils we use? What are the benefits?

Olive Oil:

Olive oil is traditionally used in soap and skin care because of it's relatively mild and gives a moisturized feel to soap. Olive oil acts as an antioxidant, which is a substance that prevents oxidation. Oxidation is a process that can produce free radicals, which are chemicals that can potentially damage cells and may contribute to cancer development. When applied to the skin, antioxidants may prevent premature aging. Also, Olive oil contains the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which can be beneficial for the skin.

Sunflower Oil:

Very similar to olive with a lighter/cleaner feel to it. Sunflower oil is rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin E which help in promoting skin health. These vitamins act as antioxidants. They help in regenerating damaged skin cells and getting rid of the acne causing bacteria. The oil is light and non-greasy and thus, it gets absorbed in the skin easily without blocking the pores. We would use sunflower oil more, but too much can make our soaps soft.

Shea Butter:

Shea Butter makes for a creamier soap bar with a more moisturized feel. Too much shea butter can make the soap sticky and reduce lather. With sensitive skin, reduced lather can be a good thing, so shea butter can be a real assistant. Shea Butter is perfect for moisturizing skin because of its fatty acid content and can be rapidly absorbed into the skin. It also has inflammatory properties and can help minimize irritation caused by environmental factors, such as dry weather, as well as inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema. Its antibacterial, helps boost collagen, and can effectively help reverse acne.

Organic Palm Oil:

We exclusively use organic and sustainable Palm Oil for the reasons of deforestation in tropical regions. Palm and similar oils are essential to make the soap bars harder and more appealing. Palm oil is also rich in vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, which can help repair damaged skin and reverse signs of premature aging like fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. It cam improve blood circulation and assists in regeneration of skin cells.

Coconut Oil:

One word, Lather. Coconut adds to the hardness of the soap bar and creates "big bubbles" in soap. With coconut oil a little goes a long way, while too much can be "too effective". Coconut Oil is great at reducing inflammation, keeping skin moisturized and helping heal wounds. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria.

Essential Oil vs Natural Fragrance:

Essential Oil is a naturally derived plant fluid extracted from bark, leaf, or petals of a plant. Essential oil is usually pure, meaning it comes from a single plant's oil. The FDA has noted that these must be listed separately on labels or they should be called "fragrance". In other words if you make an all natural essential oil blend, it doesn't matter, they still have to be called "fragrance" if not listed separately. Since our suppliers utilize essential oils and other natural raw materials to make our certified natural blends, they do not wish to disclose every ingredient, so, our way of doing this is calling them Certified Natural Fragrance, since this informs the customer that it is indeed of natural origin.

Activated Charcoal:

All of the activated charcoal that we use in our products is produces from sustainably grown hardwood trees, which are one of the United States most plentiful and sustainable resources. Unlike other charcoal sources, which can include recycled pallets and other unsustainable materials, all of our charcoal is made under the oversight of a reputable, nationwide forest preservation program. No old growth trees are ever used to produce our charcoal.
